Ain’t no party like a holiday party, because at the holiday party cookies don’t stop. We’ve given you tons of amazing recipes for sweets this year so far, and we aren’t done…not by a long shot! Here’s a coconut macaroon recipe from the absolutely gorgeous Apparatus Room in downtown Detroit. Leave these for Santa and you’re GOLDEN. (Just like these cookies.)—NPH


I love making cookies for the holidays as an addition to the mainstay desserts — folks can take them home, or perhaps they’ve had too much turkey and just want a sweet bite to end the evening. These coconut macaroons are fantastic as they’re gluten free by nature, and a delicious blend of crunchy and gooey. —Duncan Spangler, Executive Pastry Chef of The Apparatus Room at Detroit Foundation Hotel

Coconut Macaroons

Servings: 24 cookies

Copy Ingredients

Ingredients
  • 3 egg whites
  • 7.5 oz. sugar
  • .5 oz. jam (any variety)
  • 17 oz. coconut flakes
Directions

    1. 1. Combine sugar and jam and mix until homogeneous.

    2. 2. Add egg whites and whip to soft peaks.

    3. 3. Switch to paddle, add coconut, and mix until a doughy mass.

    4. 4. Scoop with a black-handled scoop and freeze until set.

    5. 5. Bake at 375°F for 10 minutes, rotating at 6 minutes, until golden brown all over.
